Internet Partnership Scheme to Beat the Recession

Dmarkable, the internet marketing division of the Beattie Communications, has launched an innovative partnering scheme to help companies beat the recession and make money on the internet.

The consultancy is helping established "bricks and mortar" businesses exploit the commercial potential of the internet by setting up joint web ventures in which they take equity or a share of sales rather than a fee.

Dmarkable is in the process of establishing joint ventures with established businesses in the retail, legal, insurance and travel sectors. They plan to establish up to 10 partnerships over the next 12 months.

"In the current economic downturn many established and successful businesses have realised that they need to identify new revenue streams to stay ahead of the game," said Gordon Beattie, chairman of Dmarkable.

The internet is an obvious new route to market for many traditional companies in both the manufacturing and service sectors. Unfortunately, many of these businesses lack the know-how or financial resources to successfully exploit the commercial potential of the internet.

"That's where we come in," explained Beattie "If we believe an established business can earn substantial profits on the internet, we will provide the web marketing expertise which they lack.

"We get our payback by setting up a joint venture in which we have a substantial equity stake or alternatively we take a percentage of the sales and profits."

Interest in the Dmarkable partnering scheme has been considerable with all of the businesses approached showing a positive interest.

"They are attracted by our proposition as we are prepared to share the risks as well as the rewards," continued Beattie.

"Until now we have been approaching established businesses which we know have the potential to successfully operate online. Going forward we would like established businesses with serious web ambitions to approach us.

"We are not interested in start up businesses. We only want to partner with established companies which are already trading profitably."

According to Beattie lots of established and successful businesses are failing to exploit the web's commercial potential.

"Many of these businesses have had no need, until now, to look at trading on the internet," said Beattie. "But the recession has made us all look afresh at our businesses and our routes to market.

"All businesses should be looking at the internet and asking the question - can I make money on the web or can I win business on the net.

"The answer in most cases is a resounding 'yes'.

"It's not enough, however, to have a website. You need a website that's optimised to be at the top of the search engines and you need an aggressive internet marketing strategy to win business on the net.

"Virtually any business has the potential to become a success on the internet and local companies can become global players overnight."
